Acidophilus Yeast Infection- What is it?

By | August 18, 2009

What is Acidophilus Yeast Infection? Well, Acidophilus is a good bacteria naturally found in the body.

It helps keep the levels of Candida Albicans fungus that cause yeast infection down. That means you will likely have less chance to suffer from yeast infections.

It is essential to maintain the optimal amount of Acidophilus in your body to control or cure your yeast infection.

Acidophilus exists in some of our foods. Yogurt is perhaps the most obvious example. So it is recommend to consume yogurt everyday to help replace Acidophilus in the intestines.

Yogurt can be applied directly for vagina yeast infection. Just coating a tampon with yogurt. Do this every night until the symptoms go away. If you use this treatment, the yogurt must be plain, unsweetened, no preservatives or coloring.

Pickles and sauerkraut are also have good bacteria to help control yeast infection. You can also get Acidophilus as a supplement in capsule form. By taking this supplement 2 to 4 weeks, you will be able to reduce Candida in your intestines and vagina.

Please note that yeast infection has less chance of appearing where the Candida fungus is kept in control by Acidophilus. However, if you have recurring or chronic yeast infection, what you need is complete natural treatment that addresses the root causes of the infection.

Preventing Yeast Infections

By | August 17, 2009

Almost every woman out there will groan when you mention a yeast infection because they are such a nuisance.

But yeast infections are quite preventable if you know a thing or two about them.

First of all, most yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of Candida yeast which thrive in warm places so wearing loose clothing, cotton underwear and carefully drying the vulvar area after bathing will help prevent infections.

Some advocate using a blow dryer on warm to briefly blow dry the vulva after bathing to insure adequate drying.

Candida also love sugar, so if you’re prone to infections, you may want to cut back on the sweets and baked goods and condiments with corn syrup.

In addition, yeast cannot thrive where there are plenty of good flora or bacteria and you can make sure you’ve got plenty of those with yogurt. Some medical literature supports eating 8 ounces a day of yogurt containing lactobacillus acidophilus, which may reduce yeast infection recurrence rate by threefold. Just make sure the yogurt contains lactobacillus acidophilus.

During sex, never use petroleum-based lubricants for vaginal lubrication and only use water-based lubricants when vaginal dryness is an issue. Remember to wipe from front to back after a bowel movement to prevent the yeast which normally inhabits the intestinal tract (and anus) from being transferred to the vaginal area.

Also, avoid perfumed bath products or powders in the vaginal area, these can cause irritations which can lead to infection. And don’t use douches! Douches wash away the natural protective mucous of the vagina leaving the vagina more susceptible to yeast and other vaginal infections.

At the first sign of yeast infection call your physician for prescribed medication such as Diflucan (fluconazole) or go to your pharmacy to buy one of the FDA approved products that are available OTC. Many women prefer Diflucan as it is a one-two pill treatment with no messy creams or suppositories to insert. Remember that you should not self-treat a yeast infection unless you have been previously diagnosed for a yeast infection by a healthcare professional.

Diet For Candida Yeast Infection

By | August 17, 2009

If you are suffering from Candida yeast infection, you are going to discover the secret how diet can help you to get rid of yeast infection.

This is an alternative treatment for yeast infection which is likely better than drugs because there is no harmful side effect to you.

The secret diet for Candida yeast infection is by eating mostly low carb foods.

Low carb foods will create an environment hostile to the Candida yeast which will eventually cause its death. But you must not provide the yeast with sugar and carbohydrate it needs to multiply. This is the reason why the Candida diet consists only of low carb food. So you must give up consuming sweet food like honey, fruit juices or any kind of fruits.

You will also have to cut all kind of foods which may contain yeast. This means that you have to temporarily give up having bread, alcohol drinks, cheese or vinegar. These foods encourage the Candida yeast to grow and get more infections to your body.

Try to replace these foods by consuming green vegetables, salads, poultry, meat and fish. Eat more garlic, ginger, extra-virgin olive oil and herbs like rosemary, thyme because all these have a positive effect on the Candida yeast infection. Signs and Symptoms of Vaginal Yeast Infection

By | August 16, 2009

One of the most common kinds of disease affecting women today is vaginal yeast infection, often referred to as Candidiasis.

This infection is due to yeast-like fungus called Candida Albicans. The fungus itself is located on human skin at normal levels. They sometimes thrive in dark and moist areas.

They are considered beneficial because they help keep the natural balance of micro-organisms in our body.

The difficulty only happens when the fungus grows out of proportion. Usually, the unusual expansion of the fungus is due to the demise of a certain bacteria that kills Candida Albicans. This will lead to the uncontrolled growth of the fungus, thus resulting in an infection.

It is vital to know how to spot the early symptoms of this disease so that medical treatment can be administered straight away. If left untreated, the infection may lead to serious damage, or maybe death. Below are the things to look for in identifying vaginal yeast infections.

The commonest sign of an infection is dreadful itching on the affected area. The itching is felt in the vagina and the encompassing area as well. The itching is inconsistent but when it is felt, it can be sufficiently bad that it would be tricky for any woman to run or walk. Urinating also will be a unpleasant experience for the patient.

It is critical for the influenced person to understand where exactly she feels the agony when urinating. Does she feel it when the urine passes thru the urinary tract or when it reaches the outside of the vagina? If she feels the pain outside, then she most likely has yeast infection. If she feels the agony when the piss passes thru the urinary tract, then she has Urinary Tract Infection. This is really important because treatment for yeast infection and UTI are different.

The vagina and surrounding area will also show a slight red color accompanied by soreness. This will make sexual intercourse a painful experience. Another key indicator of vaginal yeast infection is the presence of vaginal discharges. The discharge itself may have a distinct odor and would look like cottage cheese. Many doctors liken the odor to the hint of lager or bread. Its color will range from yellow to white and can even be clear occasionally.

It is important to grasp all of these symptoms so that the infection will be treated much sooner. This will save the affected girl from experiencing discomfort and pain. If not treated, vaginal yeast infection may cause long-lasting damage to the reproductive system of the affected woman.

Treating Yeast Infections With Canesten Duo?

By | June 1, 2009

My experience with canesten duo (2%) for treating yeast infections wasn’t successful at all.

If you ask different people the question “does Caneston Duo work?” you will get mixed responses depending on how their body reacts to it.

I took the single pill that comes with the treatment and then applied the cream externally for a few days. I had to stop using the cream because it wasn’t clearing my symptoms.

The cream didn’t absorb it just stayed on the surface of the skin which is horrible when it starts to dry up.

I was under the impression that Canesten was my only option in treating this condition. The fact that it didn’t work for me is the reason I started researching other treatments.

What has your experience been with Canesten? Even if it appeared to work did you get recurring yeast infections later?

Overall, if you are wondering “can Canesten duo cure a yeast infection” then yes it can … but it won’t work for everyone and there’s no guarantee that it will prevent future outbreaks.

Treating Yeast Infections Tip

By | May 26, 2009

There are certain conditions that yeast bacteria prefer which in turn allows them to thrive and mulitply making the situation worse.

If you are treating a yeast infection then you need to get rid of the moist warm condition that the bacteria like.

One easy thing you can start doing is not wearing really tight clothing. Tight trousers don’t allow air to circulate which means ‘certain areas’ become too warm and moisture is trapped very close to the skin. This provides an ideal environment for candida (yeast) overgrowth.

Yogurt Yeast Infections Treatment

By | May 21, 2009

I tried just about everything when it came to treating yeast infections that kept recurring.

One of them was a yogurt yeast infections treatment, which I’m sure you’ve came across to! Here’s more information on this home remedy before you try it including how it’s supposed to work and whether it really is effective.

Before using any remedy whether it’s over the counter, natural or a home remedy I always do some research. Expert research papers are very limited on this topic, the ones that do exist state that there is some evidence that eating yogurt and/or applying it to the vagina may treat yeast infections but the results are inconclusive.

What annoyed me about articles I found on the subject was that they were very one sided. I’m not saying some people didn’t have success with a yogurt treatment but the way it came across it was like it would cure my infection completely without a doubt.

I can’t explain how excited I was to finally think I was going to be able to stop the itching, burning and irritation. It wasn’t the case though. Here’s how it’s supposed to work and why it didn’t work for me.

The main reason it didn’t work is because of the constant balancing act. The vagina is yeast free when there is a balance of the different microorganisms that live in this region but when the balance is disrupted it is likely that a yeast infection will develop. In comes yogurt that contains Lactobacillus acidophilus, the container should say “live cultures” so that you have the right type of yogurt, to restore the balance.

I did notice that the symptoms started to die down which is why it seemed like the yogurt had worked. However, all it really did was treat the symptoms but the underlying cause of the yeast infection was still there, ie the yeast spores. This meant that every time there was an imbalance the yeast spores were there ready to flare up when the conditions were right.

I can see why a yogurt yeast infections cure is popular – it’s cheap and easy but if your looking for complete freedom from yeast infections in the future then sadly it’s not the answer.

Boric Acid For Yeast Infections?

By | May 18, 2009

When treating yeast infections thoughts are divided on the use of boric acid as a cure. Some people believe that it can be effective whereas others think it is harmful. I’m definitely on the harmful side!

One of the main concerns about boric acid is the fact that it is more commonly known to be used as an insecticide to kill pests. Surely with that knowledge you’d think that everyone would want to stay clear of this treatment.

However, those that suggest to try treating your yeast infection this way state that boric acid is toxic when taken orally. If ingested it can damage the stomach lining and internal organs – that’s how powerful it is!

For a yeast infection it isn’t taken orally it is inserted into the vagina in a capsule form. The idea is that the capsule dissolves inside the vagina releasing boric acid which is then thought to control the pH balance of the vagina and clear up the infection.

A side effect from using boric acid in this way is that it can cause burning and irritation. Some people advise that the burning and irritation can be minimised by taking a vitamin e capsule or oil. After researching what it can do to you if taken orally I didn’t want to risk poising myself. Although I wouldn’t have been taking it orally, I just didn’t feel comfortable putting something that toxic inside me.

And the fact that it could cause symptoms I already had as part of a yeast infection was enough to make me stay clear of this treatment.

Even though this remedy has helped some sufferers of this condition, it’s not without it’s risks which is why I’d recommend other safer treatments like this one here – which is so effective some people start to clear up their yeast infection within 12 hours and others within a day or 2!

Treating Yeast Infections – Garlic Cure?

By | May 17, 2009

Treating yeast infections with garlic is a popular topic of discussion about this condition. If you’ve done any research at all then you’ve probably came across a lot of differing information on garlic as a cure. Here’s my experience.

First off, the idea is that because garlic has soothing qualities and bacteria killing properties it will help to calm the symptoms of burning and clear up the infection. That sounded good enough to me even if I wasn’t entirely comfortable with putting garlic in certain places.

For a vaginal yeast infection, it is suggested that garlic oil is used for the outside and garlic cloves are used for the inside.

I was eager to get started with the garlic treatment so I didn’t do much research on the best way to do it or what I should expect. If I had I wouldn’t have been so horrified at the fact that the burning sensation became more intense after using the garlic. Some people say that this is to be expected but at the time I didn’t know that!

It seemed weird that a solution I was using to get rid of my yeast infection was actually making one of the main symptoms worse.

Another point I didn’t know at the time was that it’s best to wrap the garlic glove in a piece of cloth before inserting into the vagina.

In my experience, I stopped using this method because of the added burning sensation at first. I later researched and found that even if I continued with this treatment it would’ve perhaps got rid of the common symptoms of this condition but it doesn’t get rid of the root cause of the yeast infection.

So overall, garlic can be a good way to soothe the SYMPTOMS which is why it appears that it clears all traces of the yeast infection when it doesn’t.

There is however a natural, safe and extremely quick way of getting rid of your yeast infection that is becoming popular.  It’s all natural, no side effects and prevents future yeast infections.   You can find out more here.
